SUSTAINABLE MIDWIFERY

The essence of midwifery care embodies individualized care while also acknowledging the impact we make on the community around us. We limit our number of births per month to avoid midwife burnout and overlapping births. We value the one on one time we are able to spend with our clients.

REDUCE

We make every attempt to reduce the amount of wasted resources within the context of client care. In Tandem Midwifery uses electronic medical records and has almost eliminated the use of paper within our practice.

Waterbirth is a very low waste option, which achieves reduction in disposable waste.

REUSE

In Tandem Midwifery is working towards offering the option of low-waste home birth supplies, which can be borrowed, returned and thoroughly cleaned and sanitized before reusing, much like hospital linens. Using one of these birth kits can eliminate an entire garbage bag of waste per home birth.

RECYCLE

We use 100% post-consumer paper, and recycle materials where possible
